So a big bunch of us went to see Mylo @ Brixton Academy. We had a nice home cooked meal made by the lovely Becs and watched X-Factor as our warm-up to the live event. When we arrived, Jon and Danny didn’t have tickets so we were on the prowl for some “spare” ones outside the box office. They were asking for £80 for a pair!!! Chris and me being the dealer we are we managed to hustle them down to £50 which was a fair price for on the day prices. They were only £9 above the face value. Enough about not talking about the gig… We got there about 10.30pm and it was absolutely packed! However, I managed to bumped into one of my ex-collegues at work Annabel! So because it was a absolutely baltic night, we had our winter clothes on and we wanted to put them into the cloakroom and did that first. It was a good idea because we steaming by the time we got into the viewing area. ANyway there were some good support guys before Mylo and they played a good rendition of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. So we waited until 12.30pm for Mylo and it exploded. There was square screen behind him and it was very hypnotic… with all the wierd pictures and epileptic strobes… Anyway, he played all his classic hits and played some new stuff which I assume will be on his new album which should be out sometime next year. He played until 2.30pm and then he won’t be playing in the UK until 2008 but at least we got to his last gig

Well this weekend is Bank Holiday weekend and you know what that means… An extra day to have fun! Our house took full advantage of this and I started early! After work on Friday, I went for some drinks and it ended up being a bit messy as Chris discovered when he got home at 3am. I can’t remember falling asleep and Chris found me fully clothed with the radio and tv blaring! For some reason I woke up at 4am and decided to brush my minging teeth but then I couldn’t get back to bed so ended watch early monrning TV. One thing I bet most of you didn’t know what that Channel Five using Sky News at 5am for an hour!

Anyway, back to main event. The house booked tickets well in advanced for the TDK Cross Central to avoid any sort of dissapointment. After watching an critical 4th Test Cricket Match (which was nail biting!), we headed for King’s Cross @ 6.30am. There was a constant stream of people heading for this event and while security was tight, when we were inside they were pretty helpful and reserved. I won’t go into every minor detail of the event but below are some of the highlights:

- Killa Kela: Excellent beatboxer

- Soul II Soul: Outstanding session!

- DJ Format: Brilliant MC-ing

- Dan Greenpeace: Bringing back RnB and Hip Hop into fashion!

- Juliet: Cool. Some she was in the Soul II Soul crowd and DJ Format standing in front of us and then start dancing with us! When it was her turn on the stage she walk in to the crowd while she sang and again started to dance with us!

- secretsundaze: caught the last part of Steve Bug’s set

- the cross: an excellent set by Jamie Jones

- Mylo: Fantastic 2 hour set which finished at 4am!

So it finished at 6am exiting the event to daylight was very weird. Tube, cup of tea and off to bed. Tomorrow is carnival day. Woohoo!

I now beleive in Ying and Yang, Good and Evil, Hot and Cold, Religion and Science etc. Today I went to see Green Day at Milton Keynes Bowl. Arrived at MK on the train with Jim, Chris and JD and then met Simon, Mike and Becs there. After having a quick nap before the pre-show, we got involved with some beers in the hot sunshine half naked… The supporting acts were Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, and Simple Plan. They were pretty impresive and wound up the crowd before the big event started. We all headed towards the front and from this point onwards it started to get a little messy… It was like being trapped in a tin of sardines but in an oven marinated in everyone elses sweat, mmmmm… Anyway, once we got over that, the show began and people started to go mad! It was the biggest mosh pit I have ever been in. It stretched the whole of the basin in the Bowl! In summary, the set lasted about 2 hours and we all had a wicked time with all the water being thrown in the air to us down, the classic songs, the made up band, jium getting suck into the ether and all the special effects. When the concert ended it started to go downhill. Our designated meeting point was put to shambles. Only 2 of us made it there at different times with boths of us with dead phones! The others made it to a different exit and so we were all separated heading back to the train station. The station was about a 30 min walk through park land and my hayfever was not having any of it. Having taken 2 tablets already that day I didn’t want to risk taking another and having a fit so I ploughed through the walk trying to resist but it was no use. I exploded 3/4 of the way there, sneezing and ichy eyes ball out. Good job I had some tissues though! It got slight better when i got to the station as everyone was wating for the last train back to Euston. It felt like the journey last about a million years and I was suffering from the hayfever still… Got back to Euston at about 1.30am… no buses and tube was closed. Walk about a mile before we found a taxi and got home at 2.30am! Nightmare! Anyway, I’m glad I went to see my favourite band from my teenage years again and it was good remembering all there past songs but it was weird to see little kids singing to them too!

Work had some spare tickets to go and see Queen on Tour at the Wembley Arena Pavillion. Pretty good night out. 5 other work collegues joined me and we had a nice champagne reception, 4 course meal, seats near the front and then an aftershow party!!! Not bad at all. Pictures to follow…
